White Building – Sva Pul By Chia Wei Hsu

Sva Pul is a Cambodian traditional dance. The dancers are mainly children with masks on their faces as pupils of Hanuman, the Monkey God. They were invited by the artist to perform on the ground floor of the White Building. As the original design of the White Building adapted the one of Rural Khmer house, the ground floor used to be an open space until the residents built houses there when it became shallow and dark. The danc-ers are giving impromptu performance in the cramped space. The artist also invited architect Pen Sereypagna to make a 3D animation depicting the original building and display along with Sva Pul.
